Project description
The Global Compact on Refugees highlights that only 1% of refugees have ever resettled, as they struggle to rebuild their social and economic lives, hindered by the realities of displacement and cultural erosion. Located in Bethnal Green, the Gas Holder site serves as an opportunity to revive both the cultural and ecological roots of refugees and serves to reframe a process of integration. The project provides spaces to restore and exhibit lost cultural identities, addressing the challenges of the diaspora. The site leverages its social and economic potential to enable refugees to showcase their culinary skills and craftsmanship, fostering cultural exchange. Designed with empathy, a methodology focused on recovery and healing is employed to create an environment that is both safe and sensitive.
