Project description
In order to reduce our carbon emissions we need to consider existing buildings as the material quarries of the future. Split between two sites, ‘Material Palace’ provides a centralised infrastructure for the reclamation of materials coming from demolition sites across the city, as well as a strategy for their reintegration back into use. The project also focuses on fostering a deeper appreciation of our environment and the objects that surround us. ‘Material Palace’ centralises the act of making to encourage a change in mindset, one which reveals the hidden potential of existing materials and ultimately helps us make decisions that are both beneficial for us and kind to the planet.
