Music spaces form an integral part of a city’s lifeblood. Standing as a bastion for free-expression and creativity, for many people they are the difference between thriving and surviving. A Good Vibration reimagines London’s long-standing relationship with music-based infrastructure by integrating spaces for music within the increasingly dense urban fabric. The masterplan interweaves a series of stages for production, rehearsal and performance within Hackney’s existing building stock, challenging the current dismantling and segregation of creative arts-based spaces in London taking place at the hands of capitalism and free market forces. Crucially, this new approach accommodates musicians within our urban environment, helping maintain London’s global reputation as a culturally rich, multifaceted and diverse musical city.
