Project description
A transformation of the Jack Dunning Estate into a 24-hour village, designed to meet the housing needs of young health professionals and current residents is a response to addressing the pressing issue of affordable and proximate housing for key workers, with a particular emphasis on the healthcare professionals that service Homerton Hospital in Hackney as well as the current Jack Dunning Estate residents.
The project aims to advance the discourse on inclusive and sustainable urban planning by encompassing the development of 422 residential homes, alongside vital health facilities and recreational spaces. By harnessing the collective resources of the NHS and the local community, this comprehensive roadmap aspires to seamlessly integrate key workers into estate communities, tackling the housing crisis for healthcare workers and enriching the broader narrative of, adaptability, health and community. The project emphasises the creation of a socially connected community through collective spaces and initiatives, integrating nature to enhance the environment.
