Project description
Young people with limited income or without family support often end up living in temporary accommodations that are not bespoke to their needs. These living arrangements can often be isolating and unsettling, which can have a negative impact on the younger generation. Studies have shown that the period of early adolescence is crucial for their physical, social, and emotional development. While architecture cannot fully address these challenges, creating living spaces tailored to the needs of young individuals, including the layout, materials, and spatial organisation, can significantly impact their mental well-being and transition into adulthood. To address this, a trauma-informed design framework will guide the development of new, personalised accommodations and facilities that prioritise the needs of young people.
