Project description
Model Village is an urban element in the Upper Lea Valley designed as an integrated piece of its watershed. The architecture uses this conceptual understanding to develop sensitive and surprising forms of urbanism, landscape and communal living. Through a specific investigation of the history, current development, future stress and ideological battles which are playing out in the Lea Valley, our thesis suggests that through reconsidering the land on which architecture sits, not as an abstract resource but rather as a shared good, we can develop positive forms of architecture which contribute to a robust and lively future.
Model Village is on one level a masterplan within which one strip of housing has been designed to a full level of architectural detail, with the other strips left undefined.
