Project description
Feminist City looks to create a new paradigm of the neighbourhood from ground-up activism, all from one kitchen table. It disengages from current patriarchal economic systems, creating new land contracts, supportive care networks and equal distributional systems.
Through this new system of development the project sets up a framework for the community to design and build a number of small interventions, from community-led infrastructure, educational and skills-sharing space alongside a new feminist housing typology.
The feminist housing typology aims to critique the foundations of our domestic space, which inherently stem from the concept of the nuclear family. Feminist City reflects the community that it serves – diverting, appropriating and reclaiming agency of the city – and it’s taking up space unapologetically.
