Project description
My project Lost London(ers) aims to tackle the issue of displacement in forgotten, disregarded estates, through incorporating creative light industrial activity. My architectural proposition is to infill creative light industrial businesses in the underused spaces on the estate, inviting new occupants to populate and diversify the activity on the site.
This alternative model to estate regeneration will focus on combining creative workspaces with new and existing community organisations on the estate, while providing skill-share opportunities and educational facilities. The provision for creative business accommodation also tackles another issue inherent in the city, which is finding stable, affordable workspaces especially for creative professionals. The combination of these two programmes should conceive new live/work patterns, which capitalise on community progression and create permanent settlements.
