Project description
In times of increased isolation, disconnection and mental health crisis, this project strives for people around London to achieve greater levels of wellbeing. The intention is to make people happier by creating moments of connection with nature, other people, meaningful values, and their own senses.
The introduction and implementation of a design code for reconnection creates a basis for architectural propositions. These propositions feed into a new typology: a co-working and co-living facility for people in the same industry.
Through this system, a synergistic relationship between the building residents (makers/artists/craftsman) and the building users (wider community interested in the profession) is established and sustained. The built environment acts as a platform for the communities to be united and reconnected to happier life.
The developed design code can be applied to a variety of communities across the city. The first community to benefit from it will be the one in Hackney Wick.
