Project description
The Narratives of De Beauvoir is an initiative aimed at improving the overall mental health of De Beauvoir Estate residents by addressing some of the estate’s underlying issues such as a lack of safety, insufficient social infrastructure, and lack of warmth and homeliness. The proposal offers a variety of architectural interventions at various scales, primarily through using underutilised estate areas such as car park structures and optimising the site’s landscape in favour of both resident green spaces and biodiversity.

In its latest design stage, the project proposes a new bathhouse with pools of varying temperatures and conditions in the northern part of the site, next to Downham Road, encouraging different groups of residents to make more contact with water as a relaxing natural element while socialising and exercising at the same time.
