Carlos Tolosa Tejedor: Bones for the City

Folio

A proposal to reopen Hackney’s small urban parks and make them centres for public life

Goal & objective
To reopen Hackney’s small urban parks and make them centres for public life.

Strategy
First, tear down the walls and fences surrounding the park. Second, bring thresholds and different scales to blur the boundary between public and private. Third, bring programme and activate the frontages.

Impact
Working as a framework, the project can be implemented on different sites and adapt to multiple programmes and contexts. This has the potential to bring a completely new perception of what public space is in the UK.

Site location
St Thomas’s Square, London Borough of Hackney

Client

Hackney Council
